Ultimate fighter | ultimate fighter 12 finale | ultimate fighter 12 | demian maia, paul daley
In the what began as a powerful first round win by Michael Johnson in the Ultimate Fighter Finale of season 12, Jonathan Brookins persevered and won the final two rounds, to eventually win by decision the title of Ultimate Fighter.
The fight kicked off at the Palms in Las Vegas with what should have been a win from Nam Phan in a fight against Leonard Garcia. The controversial vote from the judges was declared Garcia the victor. The crowd booed as the surprising decision caught Joe Rogan, as well as the two fighters off-guard.
Fans weren’t sure what to expect after the disappointing opening to the night, but did not disagree when Jonathan Brookins came out the victor in the season 12 Ultimate Fighter finale.
In a post-win interview with Joe Rogan, the characteristically humble Brookins said, “My game still has a lot to improve on. I just want to invite everybody to come along for the ride with me because I got a lot of improvements to do. If they’re willing, I’d love for your guys to watch it.”
Both competitors were equally matched, and their individual strengths were made visible throughout the three rounds.
Other fight wins include Cody McKenzie, Stephan Bonnar, Rick Story, and Demian Maia.
