Carmelo Anthony's sister, Michelle, passed away on Tuesday from a pre-existing medical condition, and the Denver Nuggets star immediately left to be with his family.
Michelle Anthony was 32-years-old, and she leaves behind four children.
As for when Melo will return to action, the reports say that it won't be until after Christmas. The Nuggets face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Christmas Day, and the Philadelphia 76ers the day after Christmas.
Because the Nuggets are off on Monday before their game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night, expecting him back for that game would seem reasonable, but one also wouldn't expect the Nuggets to be too demanding. If so, he could return Wednesday in Minnesota.
The Denver brass has also halted all trade talks involving their star, who has been surrounded by trade rumors for much of the year. He is slated to become a free agent at the end of the season, and the Nuggets won't be able to afford to keep him.
