FBI: 'Dougherty Gang' fired at officers with AK-47

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - On a stretch of two-lane Colorado interstate south of Colorado Springs, three Florida outlaws tried one last time to run from the law after a high-speed chase and car crash.

"The first male party was taken into custody right on the off ramp, right near the vehicle. The female had run down into a field where she was taken into custody. The third suspect had run through the field, across the highway where the motels and restaurants are, and we had some citizens there that kept an eye on him. He was taken into custody there," said Colorado’s Huerfano County Sheriff Bruce Newman.

Law enforcement officials say Lee Grace Dougherty leveled her weapon at a police officer when he ran after her into a field.According to Colorado State Patrol, the three suspects were booked into the Pueblo County Jail. Each faces charges including four counts of 1st degree assault on a peace officer.

The nationwide manhunt for the Doughertys began last Tuesday when, according to authorities, they fired shots at a police officer who tried to pull them over in central Florida. Just hours later, they allegedly robbed a bank in Valdosta, Georgia with an assault rifle and “machine pistol,” Joly said.

Ryan Dougherty was last sentenced Monday in Volusia County, Florida, to 10 years' probation and two years of community control monitoring for convictions on two counts of sending harmful information to a minor.
