Britney Spears - GMA 2011 Performance Announcement [FEMME FATALE]

Britney said, “Good morning, America. I am excited to tell you on Tuesday morning, March 29, I will be performing for the first time ever in a special concert in San Francisco’s historic Castro District on ‘Good Morning America.’ “

His first stop will be NBC’s “Today” on Monday. The “Two and a Half Men” star speaks to Jeff Rossen, and NBC News is billing it as Sheen’s first television interview since slamming Chuck Lorre, the executive producer and co-creator of the CBS sitcom.

Sheen, who is in rehab, wants to return to work. But CBS and Warner Bros. canceled the rest of the season after Sheen berated Lorre.

ABC News has lined up Sheen for a “20/20″ interview that will air at 10 p.m. Tuesday. Portions of that interview will air on Tuesday’s “Good Morning America.”

UFC 127 results: B.J. Penn vsJon Fitch, Jorge Rivera vs Michael Bisping, George Sotiropoulos vs Dennis Siver, Chris Lytle vs Brian Ebersole MMA Fighti

UFC 127, which went down Saturday night, was a bit mystery in terms of what viewers would get. On the one hand you had top-tier fighters like TUF 3 champion Michael “The Count” Bisping and former welterweight/lightweight champion, welterweight juggernaut Jo BJ Penn fighting on the card. On the other hand, two of those three (Penn and Bisping) haven’t exactly been at the top of their game of late. And much of the card was filled with names less recognizable to casual fans (many of whom were submissions-geared like George Sotiropolous. And there was no title fight.

As usual part of the reasoning for the card was playing up to the locals (in this case the residents of Sydney, Australia). In total five Australian or New Zealand fighters competed on the card.

So how did the fighters fare, and how did the card as a whole shape up? Read on to find out…

The first fight on the card was Chris Camozzi versus Kyle Noke, a reunion of the pair of TUF 11 veterans (who had never competed against each other on the show). Camozzi played the aggressor charging forward early in the opening round. He landed a few blows and then went to a clench, looking to take down Noke. But it was Noke who, shifting his weight came out on top. He quickly scrambled to Camozzi’s back and sunk in a deep rear-naked choke, forcing Camozzi to tap early in the first round.

Noke isn’t exactly a household name among American UFC fans, but his win greatly delighted the home crowd, who erupted when Noke came in to the arena to the song “Down Under” by the Men at Work.

Winner: Kyle Noke, via the submission in the first round

Next up was Chris “Lights Out” Lytle versus Brian Ebersole. Ebersole came into this fight somewhat the underdog with the UFC officials and commentator Joe Rogan hyping Lytle’s “punching power” and inferring that this might be his final step to a title shot.

Unfortunately for Lytle, Ebersole was having none of it. Striking with unorthodox techniques, including a cartwheel kick at the start of the first round, he kept up an intense pace. The first round featured Chris Lytle doing two things — failing booming punches that mostly missed the mark and dropping into guard to attempt a guillotine choke off his back. Both of these things would become reoccurring themes — and unfortunately for Lytle, neither were working out well for him. Ebersole wisely kept turning his head, defending the choke and controlling Lytle from the top.

At the end of the first, Ebersole opened up a cut on Lytle’s face, with what looked like an unusual shoulder strike (!). Then in the second round he staggered the usually sure-chinned Lytle with right knee to the jaw. He wasn’t able to finish Lytle, but he clearly took the round in dominate fashion.

The third round ground along with more of the same — Lytle trying his futile guillotine attempts, Ebersole patiently escaping and attacking from the top. Right near the end of the round it was clear Ebersole had pulled off the upset, but he began to pound Lytle with viscious elbows to seal the deal. Just seconds before the end of the round, one of these elbows connected, opening up a large gaping flesh tear above Lytle’s eye.

A disappointed Lytle, bruised and bloody, watched on as the decision was announced. In retrospect Ebersole’s win perhaps should not have been surprising. After all, he has won 47 fights outside the Octagon over the last 11 years. His strong performance just goes to show you — the gap between “other” MMA organizations and the UFC might not be as wide as Dana White & company would like to have you believe (though the pay gap certainly is).

Winner: Brian Ebersole by Unanimous Decision

Following Ebersole’s win, Denis Siver faced George Sotiropolous. This had all the makings of another crowd pleaser. After all, the Aussie Sotiropolous had chained together eight straight wins — second only to Anderson Silva in the UFC. And what chance did a kickboxer, Siver, have against a savvy submissions specialist?

Apparently, a lot better chance than most people thought. Siver battered Sotiropolous in round one, showing the power in his hands, largely. While he’s known for devastating kicks, it was punches that dropped Siver’s Australian foe to the mat several times during the opening round.

Upset, Sotiropolous came out more aggressive in the second round. But Siver continued to stuff his takedown attempts. While he Sotiropolous seemed to win this round, he did so in nowhere near the dominant fashion Siver had in Round One.

In the final round Sotiropolous seemed gased and Siver exploded with flurries. While many of his punches were missing, he did connect with some and landed some nice leg kicks. And he landed two of his trademark liver kicks as the round wore on. Sotiropolous was largely unhurt by this barrage, but he ended up clearly losing the round.

The judge’s decision gave the fight to Siver, to the sorrow of the home-town crowd.

Winner: Dennis Siver by Unanimous Decision

Next up was the co-main event — TUF 3 champ Michael “The Count” Bisping versus Jorge Rivera (a TUF 4 alum). This fight had a ton of trash talk leading up to it, so it was interested to see how it turned out.

Both fighters came out aggressively. Bisping was largely counterpunching, but was landing some nice blows. Rivera’s shots weren’t landing, but he was shaking off Bisping’s strikes and laughing. Midway through the first, Bisping scored a takedown. Unable to do much damage, Bisping allowed Rivera to get up to his knees in an escape attempt. Then he delivered a vicious illegal kneed to the head of Rivera.

A stunned Rivera required a medical break before continuing. Rivera came out aggressively, taking the fight to Bisping for the remainder of the round. The pair exchanges words as they parted at the end of the round.

In the second round, it was clear that illegal knee had an effect — or perhaps Rivera was gassing. Either way, the result was the same — he was adopting more of a defensive posture and ended up getting rocked by Bisping. Backed into the corner, he turtled up as Bisping rained down blows upon him. Eventually he fell to a knee, prompting the ref to step in and stop the fight.

Again, it was hard to tell how much of an effect the illegal knee had, but one has to wonder whether Rivera was smart continuing, rather than disqualifying Bisping. It was obviously the kind of decision that pleases fans, but it might not have been his best career move.

Winner: Michael Bisping on Technical Knockout due to Strikes

And then at last came the main event — BJ Penn versus Jon Fitch. Well the pair certainly went at it. Early BJ clenched to prevent the reach advantage of Fitch from coming into play. He even scored an early takedown on Fitch. He worked Fitch with short punches and elbows, dirty boxing that would make even the great Randy Couture proud. Fitch responded back in like. The biggest moment of the round came when an elbow from Penn battered the nose of Fitch causing it to erupt in blood, likely broken.

The second round was relatively even, with both fighters scoring takedowns. Fitch seemed a bit more aggressive, but it was closely matched. The final round was all Fitch. Relatively early in the round he scored a takedown and then trapped BJ on the ground. The rest of the round he battered Penn’s face with punches, but the hardy Penn didn’t take as much damage as one might expect and Fitch wasn’t able to secure a referee stoppage.

The fight end with Penn looking defeated and Fitch ecstatic at his strong finish. But when the decision was announced, only one judge ruled it in favor of Fitch, with the other two ruling a draw. So the contest was ruled a draw.

BJ Penn and Jon Fitch Earn a Majority Draw (Fitch won one card)

Two of the most entertaining fights came on the undercard. In a lightweight battle China’s biggest MMA name, Zhang Tie Quan (anglicized to Tiequan Zhang), scored a thrilling submission, when he leapt into a guillotine choke submission of Jason Reinhardt. After all Lytle’s failed guillotine submission attempts earlier in the evening, it was refreshing to see the technique actually work.

Winner: Zhang Tie Quan via Submission due to Guillotine Choke

Equally exciting was Mark Hunt versus Chris Tuchsherer. Most wrote off this fight as the UFC fulfilling its contract obligation to Hunt. But Hunt may just have bought himself some time in the UFC, as he put up a surprisingly entertaining contest. He rocked Tuchsherer early and open a brutal gash on his upper eyelid with another strike.

As Daniel Day Lewis’s recent movie title went “There Will be Blood”. There was blood, and lots of it. After seeing the cut, it was inspected by the fight doctors. The fight was allowed to continue — barely. Spurting like a leaky faucet, Tuchsherer scored a takedown towards the end of round one, but was unable to finish a kimura attempt as he sprayed blood all over Mark Hunt’s arm.

In the second round Hunt came out invigorated and aggressive, pressing the action yet again. Under a barrage of strikes, Tuchsherer wilted, stumbling and falling before the fight doctors mercifully stepped in a second time and stopped the contest.

Winner: Mark Hunt by Technical Knockout due to Strikes
EVENT SUMMARY:

Following UFC 126: Belfort v. Silva, which was capped by Silva’s stunning front kick knockout, UFC 127 had tough boots to fill. While it had some exciting moments, it wasn’t exactly the best card we’ve seen of late — in the UFC or Strikeforce.

Rather than answer questions, the bout just created new ones. Lytle no longer stands to get a title shot, so who will, next — Guida? And is Dennis Siver’s submissions-stuffing devastating performance for real? Or did Sotiropolous just have a bad night? And what’s next for Jon Fitch and BJ Penn? Penn seemed open to the idea of a rematch, but a frustrated Fitch said, in effect, in his interview with Rogan that he’d rather fight for the title.

And what’s next for Mark Hunt as he won, leaving the UFC likely unable to wash their hands of his contract?

UFC 127 for hardcore fans was decently entertaining, but for casual fans it was likely somewhat on the poorer side. The only moment when my local sports bar really seemed to erupt was when Bisping finished Rivera with punches. Otherwise, the smaller than usual crowd, just sedatedly commented here and there.

Auburn finds hope in fight to save poisoned trees

Auburn University officials got their first glimmer of hope Friday since they received word that that school's beloved live oak trees had been poisoned with a massive dose of the virulent herbicide Spike 80DF.

A task force made up of horticulturists, agronomists and engineers had determined that the area directly adjacent to the trees does not show high concentrations of the dangerous toxin, Auburn spokeswoman Deedie Dowdle said.

"We were very concerned that the herbicide would spread. This particular one has been known to kill everything in a very large area, up to an acre," Dowdle said.

Dowdle said that new, clean soil mixed with activated charcoal was installed around the trees. The charcoal's purpose is to try to pull away any remaining herbicide in the soil, she said.

Workers began removing the highly contaminated dirt earlier in the week, after conducting extensive tests to see just how far the poison traveled through the grounds. As a precaution, the workers were also removing several areas outside beds around the trees that have shown elevated levels.

Although it's unknown how much of the poison the live oak roots took in, Dowdle said the task force was encouraged with their progress.

"Obviously we're very concerned about the trees, given that they were given 65 times the dose than what would be necessary to kill them," she said. "But they feel a bit better. We had thought there was virtually no chance, and now we're just hoping."

Auburn police arrested Harvey Updyke Jr., 62, last week for allegedly dousing the landmark trees with herbicide so potent that agronomists said the two 130-year-old trees on Toomer's Corner have little to no chance of survival.

Updyke has been charged with one count of criminal mischief and has been released on $50,000 bail.

"At this time, we have no other suspects," Auburn Police Chief Tommy Dawson said Friday.

Updyke has cycled through three court-appointed lawyers and is currently being represented by Glennon Threatt Jr., a Birmingham-based attorney, according to court documents.

Attorney Jerry M. Blevins said Tuesday that he was retained on the matter last week but withdrew from the case, based on "some conflicts between me and Mr. Updyke."

Updyke's two previous court-appointed attorneys were allowed to withdraw because of their affiliations with Auburn University.

Authorities first learned of the herbicide after a caller who identified himself as "Al from Dadeville" phoned into a Birmingham, Alabama, radio talk show, saying he had poisoned the renowned live oaks after Auburn won a contentious November football game against the University of Alabama. "Al" ended the call with "Roll Damn Tide," a battle cry for the University of Alabama.

Fans typically gather around the trees after victories, draping them with toilet paper, said Mike Clardy, Auburn University spokesman. Clardy said it's not just Auburn supporters who have rallied around the trees, however.

"We've had hundreds of calls of encouragement and suggestions from other schools in the SEC, including from the University of Alabama," he said, referring to the Southeastern Conference, which includes Auburn and the University of Alabama.

Friday, a Facebook page called "Tide for Toomer's" said more than $47,000 had been raised in support of the historic trees.

Dowdle said that sum, combined with the amounts contributed through Auburn and its partnerships, brings the total donation to more than $100,000.

"Isn't that fantastic?" Dowdle said. "On the field, there's a tremendous rivalry, but off the field, there's a tremendous respect."

Student body presidents of the longtime rival schools announced earlier in the week an initiative to plant sister trees on each other's campuses, in an expression of joint unity.

"Our rivalry is more than a game. It's a partnership. More times than not, it unites us instead of dividing us," James Fowler of Alabama said. The unity trees will be planted within the next months.

The next step for the Toomer's Corner trees, Dowdle said, is to see whether the live oaks produce leaves come spring.

"Depending how long the poison was in the soil and taken up by the roots, in spite of the rain," she said. "We're just going to wait and see. Everybody is giving it their all."

Woodstock teacher charged with inappropriate exchanges with student

Woodstock North High School teacher and coach was arrested Thursday in connection with alleged inappropriate statements made to a student in a handwritten letter.

Woodstock Police said Joseph M. Brasile, 49, of 1019 Hibbard St., had a nonphysical interaction with a 15-year-old female student earlier this year.

"He had some communication with her in an inappropriate way," Woodstock Police Sgt. Richard Johns said, but he would not elaborate on the extent of the communication.

According to the criminal complaint, Brasile made suggestive statements to the student in a handwritten letter "inquiring her thoughts of engaging into a more meaningful relationship with him while displaying his strong feelings he [had] developed for her."

The inappropriate exchanges lasted for about a month, from January to February, Johns said.

Brasile, a science teacher at Woodstock North High School and Blue Streaks girls swimming head coach, was charged with disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor. He was arrested at the Woodstock Police Department.

Brasile declined to comment when contacted by the Northwest Herald.

He was placed on administrative leave Feb. 10, when the district became aware of the investigation, spokeswoman Barb Banker said. He has taught at District 200 for six years and has been head coach for the swim team for a year.

Citing "personnel matters," Banker declined to comment further or on the terms of his leave. However, Banker said that "appropriate steps were being taken."

District 200 school board President Paul Meyer also declined to comment.

Brasile is also the head coach of the Woodstock Dolphins, a youth swimming league. On Feb 10 Brasile requested and was granted an immediate personal leave of absence from the team, said Dolphins Board President Dave Devinger in a statement to the media.

"Almost concurrent with that request, the board of directors was made aware of an investigation by the Woodstock School Administration," Devinger said. The Dolphins were advised the investigation did not involve a physical incident, he said.

Devinger said he has never received complaints or concerns about inappropriate behavior relating to Brasile.

The Dolphins' website states Brasile has two daughters, ages 16 and 11 years old.

Brasile posted 10 percent of his $1,200 bond and is scheduled to appear in court April 7.

Oscar Predictions 2011 For all Category

Last year I made a prediction for every Oscar category. It was a lot of guesswork and sort of a waste of time trying to guess who would win Best Sound Mixing or Best Short Documentary when I know nothing about what qualifies a movie to win Best Sound Mixing and when I hadn’t seen any one of the short documentaries nominated. This doesn’t mean I won’t take a stab at either one of those this year, but we’ll see.

I don’t think it has ever been easier to predict best actor and actress in a leading role than this year. Watch, I get those completely wrong. Here are the predictions…

Writing (Original Screenplay): The King’s Speech – This is a great story and an amazing screenplay. Even the story of writing the screenplay is fascinating. Did you see the 60 Minutes piece last week? I still haven’t seen The Fighter or The Kids Are All Right, but both of those are also strong contenders.

Writing (Adapted Screenplay): The Social Network – I hate to say it, but this movie will probably win. After first seeing it, I thought it should win because it was a good movie and fairly accurate from what I hear and adapted from what was probably a boring book. However, after seeing parts of the original True Grit and listening to the Coen Brothers on Fresh Air, I realized two things. One, the original True Grit really sucks. It is awfully bad. Embarrassing to a point. Two, the Coens stuck to the original language of Charles Portis’ novel, but still made a relevant movie at times both serious and hilarious. They made a Western in 2010 that was popular. That is award worthy.

Visual Effects: Inception – Whatever you thought about this movie, it’s visuals were hands down the best of the year. Nothing even compares to it. Harry Potter? Iron Man 2? Are you kidding me? Inception’s cinematography paired with the visual effects is a combination that cannot be matched.

Music (Original Song): Toy Story 3 – “We Belong Together” by Randy Newman – I haven’t heard all the nominated songs, but I know this one is great and I know that no matter what, Gwyneth Paltrow will probably sing the nominated song from Country Strong, but please don’t give that song the Oscar.

Music (Original Score): The Social Network – I almost skipped this category, but I found the music from the SN to be compelling throughout the entire movie. It really contributed to the feel of the movie. High-strung, tension-filled, the music brought more anxiety to the legal proceedings and more mystery to the goings-on in Zuckerberg’s head as he is hammering away on the keyboard.

Foreign Language Film: Biutiful – Honestly, I haven’t seen any of these, but the buzz for Biutiful and Javier Bardem’s performance is enough to make a slightly educated guess here.

Film Editing: The King’s Speech – I can’t remember a scene from the movie that I would want arranged in a different way. Of course, as viewers, we don’t know what was left out or cut from the movie, but The King’s Speech was so complete and strong it seems like they made all the right cuts and selections.

Documentary Feature: Inside Job – There are a lot of strong nominees here. Exit through the Gift Shop and Restrepo could also win. I haven’t seen the former yet, and I haven’t seen Restrepo, but I have read the book Sebastian Junger wrote about his time in the Korengal Valley while making Restrepo. That book is called War and it is the best book I’ve read about the Afghanistan front.

Directing: Darren Aronofsky for Black Swan – I could easily be wrong here, but I think this is one of the categories Black Swan will actually win. Some years it seems like the Oscar for Directing is guaranteed to go to the director of the favorite in the feature film category, but maybe not this year.

Animated Feature Film: Toy Story 3 – How could this movie not win? It’s touching and fresh, even for the third revival.

Actress in a Supporting Role: Melissa Leo – The Fighter – She has won most of the awards already, might as well make it a sweep.

Actress in a Leading Role: Natalie Portman – Black Swan – This pick couldn’t be easier. I watched some of the Golden Globes when Portman won her acting award. Her speech was a little long, awkward (nothing new there) but it was that night I discovered Natalie Portman has an annoying laugh. Interesting…

Actor in a Supporting Role: Christian Bale – The Fighter – I think this is another easy prediction. Flawless is most often the description of Bale’s performance in this movie.

Actor in a Leading Role: Colin Firth – The King’s Speech – I think I’ll be offended if he doesn’t win. I won’t cry and I’ll probably keep watching, but when an actor makes a historically accurate film and puts in such a believable, touching performance (especially when the film is about the monarchy, i.e. Helen Mirren in The Queen) they deserve it.

Best Picture: The King’s Speech – I think this movie is in danger of being beaten by The Social Network, but I sure hope that doesn’t happen. Then, I will turn the TV off. Just for the hell of it, I am going to rank the six movies I have seen out of this category. Obviously, The King’s Speech takes the top spot, but second would be True Grit, then The Social Network, Inception, and Toy Story 3. Now, had I seen all of these movies, The Fighter and Winter’s Bone would undoubtedly rank ahead of The Social Network, but I haven’t, so I can only stick with those five.

Dad kills 8-yr-old daughter after failed rape attempt

Palwal, Feb 24 (PTI) A man was arrested for allegedly killing his eight-year-old daughter after she resisted his attempt to rape her in the district here, police said.

The victim, a student of class three, had gone missing since November 28 last year and a report had been filed with the police in the connection, they said.

The police yesterday recovered a decomposed body of a girl near a railway crossing here, which was later identified by the victim's mother.

The father of the girl first tried to rape her and later strangulated the minor to death when she resisted him and then dumped her body near a tree, they said.

Victim's mother alleged that her daughter was last seen with her father near a railway track before she went missing. He had been sexually harassing the girl for a long time, she alleged.

Demonstrations turned violent across Iraq on Friday by protesters

BAGHDAD — Demonstrations turned violent across Iraq on Friday, as protesters burned buildings and security forces fired on the crowds.

Thousands of Iraqis demanding better government services took to the streets in at least 10 cities, from Basra in the south to Mosul in the north, despite attempts by the government and by top Shiite leaders to head off the protests .

Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki made a televised speech on Thursday urging Iraqis not to gather, warning that insurgents would use the opportunity to carry out attacks. Security officials in Baghdad banned all cars from the streets until further notice.

The constellation of rallies, modeled after the uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt, brought together a chorus of anger and frustration over government corruption, instability and shoddy public services. Unlike protesters elsewhere in the region, though, the crowds in Iraq did not call for an entirely new form of government.

In Mosul, a restive, ethnically mixed city in the north, two people were killed when local security forces fired on demonstrators who tried to storm two government buildings.

In Baghdad, hundreds of people walked through the sprawling city to Tahrir Square, which has been a gathering point for demonstrations over the last few weeks, shouting and waving flags in a tumultuous call for government reform.

The protesters in Baghdad pulled down two concrete blast walls that blocked access to a bridge leading to the Green Zone. Rock-throwing demonstrators clashed with security forces who, in turn, beat many of the protesters and kept them from crossing the bridge.

Demonstrations elsewhere in the country seemed to spiral out of control.

Iraqi soldiers fired on about 250 demonstrators in Ramadi in the west, killing one person and wounding eight. Those protesters were calling for the resignation of the provincial governor.

In Salahuddin Province north of Baghdad, Army troops fired on protesters, wounding five people.

Protesters tallied one surprising success in the southern Iraqi city of Basra. The provincial governor appeared before a crowd of 10,000 people who were demanding his resignation and announced that he would step down. A report on Iraqi television said the governor resigned at the behest of Prime Minister Maliki.

Mr. Maliki has offered a complex response to the waves of discontent at his government. While affirming the free-speech rights of protesters, he has also discouraging people from gathering.

In his nationally televised address on Thursday night, Mr. Maliki tried to persuade Iraqis to call off the protests, saying that loyalists of Saddam Hussein were behind the protests, and that insurgents would try to exploit the protests to sow unrest.

Mr. Maliki’s appeals came a day after the populist cleric Moktada al-Sadr returned to Iraq from Iran and cautioned against protesting, asking Iraqis to have more patience with the government.

“They are attempting to crack down on everything you have achieved, all the democratic gains, the free elections, the peaceful exchanges of power and freedom,” he said. “So I call on you, from a place of compassion, to thwart the enemy plans by not participating in the demonstrations tomorrow, because it’s suspicious and it will give rise to the voice of those who destroyed Iraq.”

In Baghdad, a city of 6 million people, the ban on vehicular traffic seemed likely to prevent at least some people from reaching the square where demonstrations were planned.

“It’s definitely a shrewd move” said Zaid Al-Ali, who was a legal adviser for the United Nations in Iraq from 2005 to 2010, dealing with constitutional and parliamentary issues. “They don’t want there to be a large turnout, because it coincides with the movements in the rest of the region, and they don’t want their people to build momentum.”

Still, he said, Friday’s events would have an important bearing on Iraqi politics over the next six months. “Either there will be a large turnout, and the government will react by improving services or cracking down on the people,” he said, “or the government will continue to ignore the people and public anger will simmer.”

Protesters said the government’s restrictions had redoubled their determination.

“No one can stop me,” said Ali Muhsin, 28, an unemployed lawyer. “If you want your freedom, you have to get it, even if it’s at the end of the world.”Mr. Ali, the legal adviser, said that larger waves of unrest could still erupt in the months ahead, when scorching summer temperatures and regular power outages put the government’s faults on sharp display.

“If you look at Iraqi history, all the revolutions and public unrest have started in the summer,” he said. “With the heat getting worse, the lack of electricity and the fact that Iraqis know how well others are living better in neighboring countries, they will be much more likely to take to the streets. On top of that, they know about how successful protests have been in Tunisia, Egypt, and maybe Libya.”

Zaid Thaker and Duraid Adnan contributed reporting from Baghdad. Iraqi employees of The New York Times contributed reporting from Baghdad, Basra, Mosul, Fallujah, Ramadi and Samarra.

52 injured Lincoln Tunnel Accident two buses collided with a motorcycle

Lincoln Tunnel Accident two buses collided with a motorcycle

Officials are working to reopen the center tube of the Lincoln Tunnel hours after a crash involving a motorcycle and three buses.

Port Authority spokeswoman Jennifer Friedberg says the crash happened around 7:27 a.m., about three-quarters of the way toward Manhattan in the tunnel that connects New Jersey and New York City. The accident is under investigation.

Friedberg says the motorcycle rider is in critical condition. New York City's Fire Department says there are about 30 other injuries, but none are life-threatening. About half the injured were sent to hospitals.

Port Authority police are having traffic behind the crash site back up to the New Jersey side of the tunnel.

Friedberg says NJ Transit operated two of the buses and Monsey Tours operated the third.

Extensive traffic delays are easing.

52 hurt in Lincoln Tunnel accident; motorcyclist severely injured, intubated

More information has surfaced about the accident in the Manhattan-bound center tube of the Lincoln Tunnel earlier this morning.

According to the New York Fire Department, two buses collided with a motorcycle in the tunnel.

The motorcyclist was severely injured and brought to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan with a fractured femur and shoulder, an FDNY spokesperson said. The crash victim was intubated at the hospital, the spokesperson added.

A total of 52 people were injured in the incident. Some were treated at the scene, while 13 were taken to Roosevelt Hospital in New York.

North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue Co-Director Jeff Welz spoke with Port Authority officials who estimated that the center tube will remain closed for a "good part of the day" as officials investigate the accident.

Welz also said that New Jersey sent in eight ambulances on standby at the Weehawken end of the Lincoln Tunnel.

According to Jersey City Medical Center spokesman Mark Rabson, the Weehawken Volunteer Ambulance Squad were first on the scene after the accident.

Rabson said that JCMC was one of many that responded to the scene but did not take any patients since it was easier for emergency vehicles to transport those injured into Manhattan from the tunnel.

Rabson also noted that JCMC, Palisades Medical Center, Hoboken University Medical Center, Meadowlands Hospital, the recently sold Bayonne Medical Center, EMS and Port Authority held an emergency drill in November to train the crews to respond to situations in the Lincoln and Holland tunnels.

NBA Trade Numors Baron Davis out because of knee injury

Baron Davis struggled with his movement Tuesday night at Oklahoma City, it was no surprise that the Clippers decided to keep him out of the lineup against the Hornets on Wednesday night at New Orleans.

Davis was visibly downcast and said there was a chance he could be sidelined longer because of a swollen left knee. The Clippers are at Staples Center against the Lakers on Friday, technically an away game, and host the Celtics on Saturday.

"I’m a little upset my knee is acting up," Davis said before the Clippers played the Hornets. "When I’m out there, I’m giving it my all, but sometimes with the increased minutes and things like that, it didn’t work out. It just compounded the situation

"On the road trip, each and every game, it was becoming more and more swollen. I was just trying to battle through the road trip and get through to the weekend so I could get back on therapy and get an amount of rest. Once Sunday rolled around, and then Monday, I really didn’t feel like I could do much at practice."

It was even more difficult against the Thunder. Davis played 26 minutes, going one for eight from the field for two points, and had four assists. Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro decided to shut him down largely based on that game. Davis wanted to play a few minutes, but Del Negro decided otherwise.

"I just wasn’t comfortable after watching him last night," Del Negro said. "That long road trip took a toll. ... Why put him out there if he’s going to be half-speed? You’ve got to play at this level and he’s not right now, with his health, not there. Let me see if he can get some rest and see if he responds a little bit better and get him out there for Friday."

During space shuttle Discovery’s final spaceflight, the STS-133 crew members will take important spare parts to the International Space Station along with the Express Logistics Carrier-4.

Discovery will deliver the Permanent Multipurpose Module (PMM), which was converted from the multi-purpose logistics module (MPLM) Leonardo to the International Space Station. It will provide storage for the crew and room for experiments.

Discovery will also carry Express (Expedite the Processing of Experiments to the Space Station), an external platform that holds large equipment that can only be transported using the unique capability of the shuttle.

The mission will feature two spacewalks to do maintenance work and install new components.

Most interesting – Discovery will carry Robonaut 2, which is the very first human-like robot to fly in space. It will take up permanent residence at the space station.

This will be Discovery’s 39th space visit since 1984, and its last.

West Indies vs South Africa - ODI SOUTH AFRICA won by 7 wickets

By Bikash Singh --- Yahoo! Cricket

New Delhi: The story goes like this: Johan Botha started the attack for South Africa, Imran Tahir took four wickets on his debut, Sulieman Benn started the proceedings for West Indies, AB de Villiers scored a fabulous century and South Africa won the match. Nice and crisp.

And there was some rain too, towards the end -- not that it made any difference to anything.

The show piece for today was AB de Villiers, who loves batting against West Indies -- this is his third century against that particular opposition and 10th overall, and it helped fashion a convincing seven-wicket victory with 43 balls remaining. What makes AB invaluable is the fact that by keeping wickets, he allows his team the luxury of an extra bowler -- and coupled with his incandescent batting, that makes him SA's most valuable player by some distance.

Chasing 223 runs to win, South Africa had a forgettable start before Graeme Smith (45) and AB de Villiers dropped anchor. Reliable opener Hashim Amla was undone by a terrific delivery from Kemar Roach in the fourth over, and keeper Devon Thomas took a blinder diving full length to his left and Amla trudged back for 14 runs.

Like the Proteas had in the first session, West Indies too started the proceedings with spin bowling. Darren Sammy handed the ball to Sulieman Benn and big Benn was more than happy to oblige on the Kotla track. Jacques Kallis walked out at No.3 but Sulieman had other plans for him. The experienced all-rounder was beaten totally by Benn's delivery outside off-stump as Sammy pounced on a very low catch at slips. Windies roared in celebration, so did the crowd.

Smith and de Villiers kept their heads, despite those two quick wickets, with the later being more aggressive in his approach. AB de Villiers in the company of his captain breathed life back into the chase with some cracking boundaries. de Villiers brought up his half-century with a huge six over mid-wicket off Gayle.

The duo added 119 for the third wicket off 141 balls, but it was AB de Villiers who stole the show, mauling Windies attack patiently at his will. Smith was bowled by Pollard's slower one at the score of 45.

After Smith's dismissal, Duminy and de Villiers steadied the innings with their sensible knocks.

Earlier in the afternoon, the West Indies got off to a worst possible start at Feroz Shah Kotla. Opener and ex-captain Chris Gayle returned after a brief two-ball stay at the crease. Electing to field first, South African skipper Graeme Smith, much to the surprise of everyone, gave the white ball to Johan Botha and he brought early joy to the Proteas.

Botha tossed up a length delivery which turned away and dangerman Gayle managed to edge it to Jacques Kallis at first slip. But after that, West Indies got back on the track with an awesome batting display by young Devon Smith (36) and Darren Bravo (73).

Touted as the next Brian Lara, Dwayne's half-brother took the high-profile South African attack apart, striking eight fours and one six in an overwhelming show of class. He along with Smith stitched up a 111-run partnership to bail the Caribbean unit out of early trouble.

There was no denying the quality of Darren's innings but South Africans are always ready with Plan B, C and D. Smith brought fielders inside the circle, the players took some important catches, a suicidal run-out helped things along, and West Indies succumbed for 222 in 47.3 overs. The innings fell apart in the face of a lethal spell from Tahir and Steyn.

After Darren's fall, Windies were in unusual hands of less-known Imran Tahir. The 31-year-old leg-spinner, making his debut, took 4-41 as West Indies collapsed after being strongly placed at 113-2 in the day-night match.

Tahir was ably supported by Botha on a spinner-friendly Kotla track and captain Smith's decision to play three spinners was justified.

After the horrific run-out of Dwayne Bravo, West Indies' revival receded sharply. They lost wickets at regular intervals and once their most experienced batsman in Ramnaresh Sarwan (2) and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (31) were snapped by Tahir's precision - the story was cut further short.

"Graeme had a lot of confidence in me. I bowled well in the second spell, some days you have a bad day, some day a good one, today was a good day," Tahir said.

Once the spinners were done, paceman Dale Steyn gave a superb exhibition of fast bowling to rock West Indian tail and finish with 3-24 off 7.3 overs.

Graeme Smith mixed up his bowling options to pack West Indies cheaply in their World Cup Group B match at Feroz Shah Kotla. To add to their problems, Dwayne Bravo slipped and fell during his follow through, landed badly on his knee, and had to be helped off the field. Last heard from, he had been sent to the hospital for a precautionary X-ray.

It was also Feroz Shah Kotla's first international match after serving a one-year ban. Kotla was banned in December 2009 after an India-Sri Lanka One-dayer had to be cancelled because of a dangerous pitch.

*Updated with final two contestants*

After this week, we'll learn who our Top 24 'American Idol' contestants are -- but why wait when spoilers abound! The folks at Joe's Place have distilled the remaining 60 down to the 24 we'll have our eye on at the end of this week.

But the real intrigue here isn't who's on the list, but who isn't! Read on if you want to be seriously spoiled as we head to Las Vegas.

Ashton Jones

Age: 24
Hometown: Goodlettsville, TN
Audition City: Nashville
In a Nutshell: We saw little of Ashton early on but after surviving the Ashley Sullivan group performance drama, Jones broke out the next night with a little "Dreamgirls" action.

More Ashthon: MySpace, Facebook, YouTube
Brett Loewenstern

Age: 16
Hometown: Boca Raton, FL
Audition City: New Orleans
In a Nutshell: Brett continues to wow the judges with his unique tone and uncanny resemblance to Simply Red's Mick Hucknall.

More Brett: Facebook
Casey Abrams

Age: 19
Hometown: Idylliwild, CA
Audition City: Austin
In a Nutshell: Casey brought his A-game (and an upright bass) to Hollywood with 'Georgia on My Mind.'

More Casey: Facebook, YouTube
Clint Gamboa

Age: 26
Hometown: Long Beach, CA
Audition City: San Francisco
In a Nutshell: While Gamboa may be a Karaoke King back home, he lost favor with fans (and perhaps even the judges) when he kicked the cherubic Jacee Badeaux out of his group.

More Clint: YouTube
Haley Reinhart

Age: 20
Hometown: Wheeling, IL
Audition City: Milwaukee
In a Nutshell: After making it through the group performance "by the skin of her teeth" according to J.Lo, Reinhart redeemed herself the following night, belting out 'God Bless the Child.'

More Haley: MySpace
Jacob Lusk

Age: 23
Hometown: Compton, CA
Audition City: Los Angeles
In a Nutshell: Jacob is another member of the Top 24 who seemed to come out of nowhere. His powerful performance of 'God Bless the Child' blew the judges away and reduced Jacob, himself, to tears.

More Jacob: YouTube
James Durbin

Age: 21
Hometown: Santa Cruz, CA
Audition City: Los Angeles
In a Nutshell: James has amazing vocal range. The real question heading into the finals is will he know when to reel it in and when to go big?

More James: Facebook, YouTube
Jordan Dorsey

Age: 21
Hometown: LaPlace, LA
Audition City: New Orleans
In a Nutshell: The seemingly humble music teacher quickly came out of his shell on group night, but like Clint, he may not be the most likable of the bunch.

More Jordan: Facebook
Jovany Barreto

Age: 23
Hometown: Harvey, LA
Audition City: New Orleans
In a Nutshell: Though his striptease audition might not have set the tone for a serious contender, Jovany is still hanging on to his 'Idol' dream -- and his shirt.
Julie Zorrilla

Age: 20
Hometown: Los Angeles, CA
Audition City: San Franciso
In a Nutshell: Julie might just be the total 'American Idol' package. She's got the looks, the voice, the piano chops and of course, the sob story.

More Julie: Facebook
Karen Rodriguez

Age: 21
Hometown: New York, NY
Audition City: Los Angeles (via MySpace)
In a Nutshell: Karen is probably the one argument 'Idol' producers can make for holding MySpace auditions next year.
Kendra Chantelle

Age: 22
Hometown: Loudon, TN
Audition City: Nashville
In a Nutshell: Another impressive performance of 'Georgia on My Mind' kept Kendra safe in Hollywood.

More Kendra: YouTube
Lauren Alaina

Age: 15
Hometown: Rossville, GA
Audition City: Nashville
In a Nutshell: Lauren's got the chops, but all the sucking up to Steven Tyler might be her undoing in the end.

More Lauren: Facebook, MySpace
Lauren Turner

Age: 24
Hometown: Covington, LA
Audition City: New Orleans
In a Nutshell: Turner made it to Hollywood in season 4 and won a local Christina Aguilera impersonation contest. Winning 'American Idol' would be a serious upgrade.
Naima Adedapo

Age: 25
Hometown: Chicago, IL
Audition City: Milwaukee
In a Nutshell: We haven't seen much of Naima since learning of her janitorial duties at SummerFest. Hopefully, this week we'll learn why she's in the Top 24.
Paul McDonald

Age: 25
Hometown: Nashville
Audition City: Nashville
In a Nutshell: Paul's an established performer in his native Nashville and that experience has apparently earned him a slot in the Top 24.

More Paul: Official Site, MySpace, Twitter, Facebook
Pia Toscano

Age: 21
Hometown: Howard Beach, NY
Audition City: East Rutherford, NJ
In a Nutshell: Pia made it to the Top 40 in season 6 and sang the national anthem at a Mets game so clearly, she can handle the pressure post-Hollywood.

More Pia: Facebook, YouTube, MySpace
Rachel Zevita

Age: 22
Hometown: New York, NY
Audition City: East Rutherford, NJ
In a Nutshell: New Yorker Rachel Zevita also made it to Hollywood in season 6 and this time around she's looking to take it all the way.

More Rachel: YouTube
Robbie Rosen

Age: 16
Hometown: Long Island, NY
Audition City: East Rutherford, NJ
In a Nutshell: Robbie's one of this season's strongest musicians and he's got the vocals to match.

More Robbie: Facebook, YouTube
Scott McCreery

Age: 16
Hometown: Garner, WI
Audition City: Milwaukee
In a Nutshell: Scott faltered through group night, singing about the "nuts of wonder in your jeans," though he's apparently learned the lyrics to whatever he's singing this week.

More Scott: Facebook
Tim Halperin

Age: 26
Hometown: Fort Worth, TX
Audition City: Los Angeles
In a Nutshell: Tim's an accomplished singer-songwriter who could be this season's breakout rocker.

More Tim: Facebook, YouTube
Stefano Langone

Age: 22
Hometown: Kent, WA
Audition City: San Francisco
In a Nutshell: After miraculously recovering from a terrible car accident, Stefano continued to evolve as a talented musician, earning him a slot in the Top 24.

More Stefano: YouTube
Tatynisa Wilson

Age: 20
Hometown: Aurora, Ill
Audition City: Milwaukee, WI
In a Nutshell: Like Scotty McCreery, Tatynisa also got creative with the lyrics for "I Hope You Dance," but must have fared better with The Beatles, this week.

More Tatynisa: Twitter, Facebook, MySpace
Thia Megia

Age: 15
Hometown: Tracy, CA
Audition City: San Francisco, CA
In a Nutshell: This is Thea's second run on a major reality show competition. She did it on season 4 of 'America's Got Talent,' making it to the quarterfinals.

More Thia: Facebook YouTube

According to Joe's Place, Chris Medina, John Wayne Schulz, Jackie Wilson, Eryn Kelly, Hollie Cavanagh, Jessica Cunningham and Keisha Lewis have all been confirmed as cut. And while not "confirmed" by omission it looks like Jacee Badeaux is gone, too. Shudder to think!
