Lakers Vs. Suns : In a gripping encounter Los Angeles Lakers defeated Phoenix Suns yesterday, who looked slightly off color in the absence of Amare Stoudemire and Leandro Barbosa, who have left the side to join some other teams. The match was entertaining, but Lakers walked home taking with them a 114-106 victory. We know that the Suns used to have a very good defence but they failed to stop the rampaging Lakers from stealing away points every now and then.
Kobe Bryant finished with 25 points and seven rebounds, Pau Gasol had 21 points, Lamar Odom had 18 points and 17 rebounds. Bryant was superb yesterday as he made nine of 19 shots in 34 minutes. Talking about Bryant, Lakers Coach Phil Jackson said, "He was in cruise control, just played at the level of the game, did a really nice job. Defensively, I think he's starting to come around a little bit. I'm watching that part of his game a lot."
The Lakers Coach Phil Jackson said was jampacked and lots of LA fans were present in the stadium to support their stars. "I think there's a lot of L.A. population here that comes out to root for the Lakers and I think it irritates the [local] faithful," Jackson said. "I think that's where a lot of the rivalry comes from."
The Lakers were leading 87-79 through three quarters and Odom was looking in great touch at that time. "Lamar was very good tonight," said Jackson, who completed his 1,110th victory as NBA coach yesterday. Gasol added nine assists and eight rebounds. "I think a lot of good things happened when the ball went in the post. Whether it was me scoring or me finding open guys and then getting open shots, it was very productive," said Gasol after the match.
